Our promise

The Global Novel team guarantees to read and properly consider each and every chapter submitted; and to acknowledge receipt of all submissions via email as soon as possible.

General rules

1. Anyone and everyone can submit chapters to Global Novel, but there is an age restriction – you must be over the age of 16.

2. You can submit as many chapters as you like but if you submit a chapter that is chosen to be the official next chapter, you cannot submit a further chapter for at least 5 chapters. This is so that Global Novel can have the involvement and ideas of as many people from around the world as possible and make the project properly global.

3. There is no word limit (minimum or maximum) for your chapters so that your creativity is not restricted. As a rough guide only, a chapter can be in region of 3,000 words.

4. Please feel free to submit your chapters in any language. However, because we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any translation, please provide an English translation of your chapters if possible.

5. Due to the public nature of Global Novel, please do not submit anything that:

a. may cause offence, distress or upset to anyone;

b. may put yourself or anyone else in danger;

c. is likely to break any laws.

6. Please do not plagiarise.

7. Please remember to write “Global Novel” in the subject line of any email you send us, especially when you email your submissions.

8. All submissions should be sent via email and in MS Word document format where possible. (Please visit the submissions page for the email address details).

9. Although we guarantee to read and consider your submissions, we cannot guarantee that your submissions will be chosen.

10. The Global Novel team's decision is final.

Legal terms

1. By submitting any contribution to Global Novel and towards the Global Novel project you confirm that:

a. you are over 16 years of age;

b. you are who you say you are;

c. your contribution is your own original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any personal rights, UK laws nor any laws of any other country;

d. you have the express permission of anyone who is identifiable in your contribution;

e. you agree to allow Global Novel, free of charge, permission to use your contribution in any way it wants (including edited versions where necessary);

f. you have the right to give permission to Global Novel to use your contribution for the intended purpose of the Global Novel project or indeed any other purpose which may be or become necessary or arise in any other way;

g. you consent to allow Global Novel to acknowledge your contribution by printing your name and geographical area of residence on the website and any other material. (Please note that we shall respect your privacy at all times and will not publish any contact details nor any other personal information about you except for your real name and country, city, county and/or state of residence unless you expressly request that such information is published and Global Novel deems your request to be appropriate);

h. you consent to allow Global Novel to share your contribution with trusted third parties. (Please note that we will not share any personal details with anyone without your express permission);

i. you agree to be bound by all of these terms and rules with immediate effect.

2. The copyright in your contribution to Global Novel will remain with you and you can continue to use the material that you have personally contributed in any way including allowing others to use it, as long as it is not used for and/or in conjunction with anything else related to Global Novel without the express permission of the owners of Global Novel.

3. All copyright, design rights and other intellectual property rights (registered or unregistered) and all content in and on globalnovel.com shall remain vested in the owners of Global Novel. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, download, post, make available to the public, or otherwise use globalnovel.com content in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use, without the permission of the owners of Global Novel. You also agree not to change or create any imitation of work from any globalnovel.com content except for your own personal, non-commercial use, without the permission of the owners of Global Novel.

4. Global Novel cannot and does not guarantee the accuracy of, nor take any responsibility for, any external links from globalnovel.com.

5. Global Novel neither offers nor guarantees any remuneration, monetary or otherwise, for submissions and contributions made to the Global Novel project. Should this change in the future all chosen contributors will be advised.

6. Global Novel may from time to time change any of these terms. Your continued use of globalnovel.com and submissions to Global Novel will be deemed acceptance of the changed terms. Please therefore check these terms regularly. If you do not agree to the terms please do not use globalnovel.com nor submit any contribution to Global Novel.

7. These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales which shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes should any disputes arise.
